Who is a Nurse Assistant?

As the name implies, Nurse Assistant is a young man or woman who has the desire to serve humanity at the bed-side.  This school offers them the basic preparation to embark on Certificate programmes in the Nursing profession.  They are framed to assist the trained nurses in the wards hence the name ‘Nursing assistant’.

Duration of Training

The training is for one (1) calendar year.  The first three months is for theory in the classroom, six months is for clinical experience in all the Units of the hospital.  Classes are organized along-side the clinical experience while the last three months are also spent in the classroom to finally conclude their syllabus and then for final examinations and graduation.

Admission

There are two admissions in a year.  The first is in March and the second is in September.  Payment should be made at Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) for the form.

Entry Qualification

Candidates with a minimum of three (3) Credits at ‘O’ Level examinations are eligible for admission subject to their performance at the entrance examination of the school.

Certificate obtained

The Certificate of “Nursing Assistant” is obtained at the end of the programme which the individual can use to seek a gainful employment at the privately owned health institutions.
